Runnin' (Learning)

There’s always more time when you’re running.
Always more time left in the day.
Always more time if you want it,
always more time on that clock to make a play.
Einstein, wild mind, got on the train one day.
This time he went too fast and saw the clock stayed the same.
How could he know the faster he went the slower it’d go?
The universe favors the mover.
Luck favors the bold.
Speed of light, outta sight, it came and then it went,
never telling the meaning of the message that was sent.
One transmission from one side, one word to another.
Last look at the planet earth, we’re trying to get to another.
Can’t lose any time thinking on my sins.
By the time I go to die, I’m looking back on all that’s been.
Did I cast off the shroud and was I satisfied?
Or am I still holding onto something better left behind?
Do you remember when we stood
to join the voyage and sailed out to sea?
Even the air upon my lips was a lover’s kiss to me.
Now and then, the priestess spoke,
“With rats and ships comes the plague.
But if we make it to the other shore
we will bask in Heaven’s shade.”
And you struck out with your fists,
“Our graves are not yet made!”
She looked and you and nodded,
and said, “Indeed, there is another way.”
There’s always more time.
It’s not meant to be saved.

Outer space is the only place
where you can see the earth without her disguise.
The sun doesn’t set or rise out here.
It’s all just one endless day.
And I don’t ever want to lose the reason
that I put on this suit of flesh
and followed you down through lifetimes
and black holes just so we might intersect
one day, one endless day, with you, Clara.
So I live where they shoot the rockets to the sky.
You live where they play the music that gets me high.
And I know this spinning orb has got to make its revolution
but I can’t help believing it’s all happening right on time.
So I’ll wait for a light to open up the way
so I can mine the jewel that lies in the depths of you.
Even the star at the center of it all
is gonna fade, it’s gonna die and fall right through.
When it does, we’ll know it’s because
it wanted us to start again so we can feel brand new
for a day, one endless day with you, Clara.

Do You (Bodhisattva)

If you wish to conquer the sufferings of birth and death,
then you must never seek salvation somewhere outside yourself.
The mysteries of existence are there within your life
and if you learn to use them, they can cut deeper than any knife.
It’s tangible, it’s natural, it’s factual, it’s sexual,
it’ll make it cool when you act a fool and take the haters back to school.
If you wish to transform the patterns that hang you up
and turn all of that struggle into the foundation of your love,
then you need look no further than what you’re doing now,
sitting, complaining about the situation, or are you wiping sweat off your brow?
Transparency, no L.I.E.s is the only way to be free.
The U.S.A. and its N.S.A., F.B.I., C.I.A.,
there is no hope to get away, so might as well be on display
and show the world that it’s okay.
They need to know that it’s okay.
And if it’s got you by the balls, trying to figure out what to do,
just turnout all your pockets and do you, man, do you, man do you.
My god, it’s better than nothing.
My god, it might just be something.
It’s true what the kids say, you do only live once,
but that one life is endless, it’s not like you get out and you’re done.
Recharge the battery, then you’re right back to it,
into a garden only filled with the flowers that you plant.
So if you’re sowing heaven, you’re gonna enjoy your life.
But if a child is born into a desert then you’ll know you didn’t do it right.
And we’ll join voices for the saving of the land.
I do not wish to harm you, there’s no weapon in my hand.
I want you to have happiness and not superficially.
That’s the kind that’s dependent on externality.
The real one, the one inside
that makes you strong, makes you wise,
creates the future, sets the vibe,
it’s the reason you’re even alive,
knows happiness is not founded on pleasure or pain.
You know those old bedfellows are machinations of the brain.
Happiness is the determination never to give in,
believing victory will come and the fun is not knowing when.

You could stay here, you know,
where the junipers stand in a row.
Where the auburn dusk is aglow.
You could wear that halo forever.
You could stay here you know,
where the cosmic ocean churns,
the karmic ingot burns,
recast and dispersed into the ether.
I must go back.
I’ve got to be with the people.
